DCR was pleased to be invited back to the annual Dover Big Local Urban Fete this year, widely held to be the best yet, although the day long sunshine had a lot to do with that.
As DCR pumped out over the main PA speakers live music came from The Ratzkins, Porch Swing Blues and Hannah Estelle, who also played for us at the Morrisons fund raiser for Teenage Cancer back in July.
As potential new volunteers and advertisers called by the DCR stand we also welcomed two unexpected visitors to the main area, a piper drawn from the ranks of the Police Cadets who were helping keep the site clear of litter, having earlier helped with setting up gazebos and stalls, together with a young lady who was having her long hair cut to donate to The Little Princess Trust www.littleprincesses.org.uk who provide free real hair wigs to children and young people who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment or other conditions.
While DCR’s own DJ Steve hosted his own Reggae mix the traditional Duck Race brought the Urban fete to a successful, smiling, close.
