More Tales of St Martin - Dover’s patron saint - Illustrated talk and performance

Local storytellers Barry O' Brien and Nic Lucas, together with

Dobbin (Dover's mischievous hooden horse) return to the Maison Dieu

to entertain us with a new selection of stories inspired by St

Martin, the Patron Saint of Dover and the festival of

Martinmas,

According to tradition, the church and

townspeople of Tours, France wanted Martin to serve as their

bishop, but he felt he was not worthy and chose to hide from them.

Unfortunately for him he hid in a shed or pen filled with geese who

cackled loudly and gave away his location.

To mark this long-held association with

geese we will be joined by Goose Feather Morris, consisting of

experienced members of various Morris sides whose aim is to promote

the fun aspect of The Morris.

Door and bar open 6.30 - 7.00pm

Talk begins 7.00 - 8.30pm

Tickets £5. Advance booking only. Suitable for adults and

children aged 12 plus.
