Diederik Smet on the Historic Cavell Van at the Port of Dover

Barry O'Brien speaks with Diederik Smet from the Port of Dover about the Cavell Van, a 19th-century railway carriage with a powerful connection to Britain's wartime history. Built by the South Eastern and Chatham Railway, it carried the bodies of Edith Cavell, Charles Fryatt, and the Unknown Warrior after the First World War. The van is on display at Dover's Cruise Terminal 1 from 7–9 and 14–16 November 2025. Entry is free, but booking is required.
